My experience with marketing includes spending time as a member of an in-house marketing department, freelance marketing and design consultation, and the day-to-day marketing and design help offered as part of a design studio. These are some of the projects I’ve been involved in over the years. Fliers, print ads, direct mail marketing pieces, and more are included.

2014. PMMI approached me to design the exhibitor handbook for their co-located PACK EXPO International Pharma EXPO in Chicago. The theme was once again that of a comprehensive playbook, so sports imagery, bold colors, and clean layout were in order to attractively and intuitively lay out the contents of the book. The copywriter, Kwame DeRoché
, provided the visual concept of a locker that holds all the information exhibitors need for the show. The cover of the booklet was a tri-fold, with the left-most panel being perforated so that exhibitors could take out all important show dates and comp codes to store wherever they needed them most. 2014. Antietam Cable, a client of Icon Graphics
, asked us to create a mailer with the concept of an entire family using their new wireless home network in every room of the house. This design was so popular that the campaign was expanded to include another direct mailing and several print and web ads.
2014. The Washington County Board of Education asked us to design an ad for the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts Spring Gala. I tried to incorporate every section of study that Barbara Ingrams offers its students.
2013 / 2014. The Washington County Board of Education asked the team at Icon Graphics
to create a series of ads for the school system depicting their vision statement. We wanted the ads to be photo-heavy and slightly whimsical.
2013. PMMI asked me to come up with a concept & a design for the exhibitor handbook for their 2013 PACK EXPO show in Las Vegas. The theme was a playbook, so I decided to go with a clipboard that would be full of “game plans” for the exhibitors. The clipboard was die-cut and slipped into a slit on the front to keep the booklet closed. PMMI and their exhibitors alike were incredibly pleased with the result. See more here.

2012. As part of the team at Icon Graphics

2012. Horizon Goodwill asked the team at Icon Graphics
to come up with several enticing marketing concepts. I came up with the concept of powering your business with Goodwill, using a plug for a metaphor. I wrote the copy, as well. This project hasn’t moved forward, so it remains in this conceptual stage.
2011. INFOCUS Marketing
had the opportunity to advertise with the American Mental Health Counselors Association. I was tasked as part of the marketing department with writing the copy and designing the flier targeting members of AMHCA who need marketing services.
2010. With the popularity of the Pair Up with INFOCUS Marketing pear campaign, the company decided to host an event at Washington, D.C.’s Old Ebbitt Grill. The artwork and style from the pear inserts were repurposed for this invitation. The event was incredibly successful and resulted in a contract negotiation meeting with INFOCUS’s largest client to that date.
2010. The purpose of this campaign was 3-fold: client retention, client prospecting, and building awareness of our recently expanded suite of services. Under the advisement of my director of marketing, I coordinated with an outside vendor to send boxes of delicious pears to our best clients and prospective clients with an inserted message targeted to thank them for pairing with us or inviting them to do so. I combined custom illustration with friendly typography to make the inserts as inviting as possible. The feedback from both existing and prospective clients was overwhelmingly positive and resulted in some follow-up business meetings.
2010. While part of the marketing team at Infocus Marketing
, the company acquired the member list for the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. and the marketing department needed to create a campaign to help sell the list. We wanted to keep it bold and clean, which to me meant going with a type-heavy design.
2010. I designed and wrote a landing page for Pure & Simple Café in 2010. Their site has since seen a redesign.

, I created this ad for the Farrier Product Distribution for insertion in the American Farriers.
